STRONG GENDARME SWORD OF THE KING'S HOUSEHOLD GUARD.
Brass mounting, gilded. Round palmette pommel. Silver filigree spindle. Three-prong guard and shell with days. Counter-guard with poucier days. Straight blade with flat back, counter edge, gutter and hollow sides, engraved in a cartouche at the heel "Gens d'armes de la Garde du Roy" on a gold background, on both sides.
A.B.E. S.F. (traces of oxidation on the blade). Late 18th century.
