The Olympic Suite is made up of 50 lithographs and silkscreen prints chosen to represent various contemporary artistic trends. It was published to commemorate the first centenary of modern Olympism. The chosen artists are defined by different movements and pictorial trends.
A French painter, sculptor and illustrator, Olivier Debré was a pupil of Le Corbusier, although he eventually focused on the plastic arts. Towards 1960 he definitively evolved towards abstraction, thanks to the influence of American abstract expressionism. A great international success, he has worked all over the world and represented France at the Universal Exhibition in Montreal in 1967. His solo exhibitions include retrospectives in Paris in 1995 (Jeu de Paume), Reykjavik (1996, Museum of Art), Mexico (1997, Museum of Fine Arts), Rio de Janeiro (1997, Museum of Modern Art), Beijing (1998, Museum of History) and Hong Kong (1998, Museum of Modern Art). He is currently represented at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Taipei Museum of Fine Arts, among other collections.
