"CARYBÉ" HECTOR JULIO PÁRIDE CARYBÉ (Lanús, Argentina, 1911 - Salvador de Bahía, Brazil, 1997). Untitled, 1992, from the "Suite Olympic Centennial". Lithograph on 270 grams Vélin d'Arches paper, copy 114/250. Signed and justified by hand. Size: 90 x 63 cm. The Olympic Suite is composed of 50 lithographs and serigraphs chosen to represent various contemporary artistic trends. It was published to commemorate the first centenary of modern Olympism. The artists chosen work in very diverse movements and styles, from the hyperrealism of Antonio López to the abstraction of Sol Lewitt, including abstract expressionism, the geometrism of Arden Quin, conceptual art, pop art, the new realism of Baldaccini and Rotella, and the new fauvism of Dokoupil, among others. Among the artists represented there are creators of great international renown, widely recognized by the critics. A multidisciplinary artist, Héctor Julio Páride Carybé stands out in the world of painting as well as in drawing, illustration, ceramics, sculpture, muralism and even research, history and journalism. His work is characterized by a joyful and carefree style, while still reflecting Caribbean culture, characterized by capoeira, Afro-Brazilian rituals and the nature of the Bay of El Salvador. Carybé began his artistic career by illustrating books by famous writers, and then went on to work for various newspapers, this time as an investigative journalist. His most iconic works are the murals of the Memorial de América Latina, located in the city of San Paulo, and the murals at Miami International Airport, works that crowned Carybé as an outstanding personality on the Latin American scene.
