CARRACHE Annibal (Suite de) Bologna 1555 - id. ; 1609. The Silence or The Virgin with the Sleeping Infant Jesus, Little Saint John, Saint Agnes and Two Angels. Oil on canvas. H. 57.5 - L. 74.3 cm. Beautiful blackened wood frame with lattice motif (small gaps in the corners). A copy of the composition by Annibal Carracci (50.8 x 68.6 cm) in the Royal Collections at Hampton Court, with the addition of Saint Agnes and two angels on a landscape background (Cf. Gianfranco Malafarina, L'opera completa di Annibale Carracci, no. 114, pp. 119 - 120 - Milano 1976). A copy of Annibal Carracci's composition (1605) by Le Dominiquin (1581 - 1641) is in the Musée du Louvre (Inv. 195).
