Bronze jug with flat bottom, centered hole in the middle. In the lower part slightly flaring upwards to the soft rim and clearly below half the height tapering conically upwards to a narrow neck. The broad, outward-facing rim is funnel-shaped on the inside and facetedly bent over and turned down on the outside. Nearly round-barred handle, flattened on the sides, extends beyond the rim in a sweeping arc and returns below the flared rim, where it is hammered out into a wide sheet metal collar and connected to the rim by two rivets. At the lower end, the handle transitions into a stylized animal foot, the tip of which is placed on a teardrop-shaped leaf-shaped attache soldered to the belly of the vessel. Slightly mottled, distinctively beautiful "water patina" with dark, reddish and greenish oxide flecks allowing the metallic background to show through. Attractive, shiny surface. Very nice and intact example of a Greek Olpe. Height with handle 20,5 cm. Provenance: From Hermann Historica, auction 58 in October 2009, lot 54. Consigned at that time by the Frankfurt art dealer B. G. Condition: I - II
