Circular bowl with a diameter of 39.5 cm (without handle). In the lower part chased from thick bronze sheet, about 1.5 - 3 mm thick. The flat base sweeps upward toward the rim in a quarter-circular line. The rim with prominent edges and horizontal surface of 7 mm width clearly reinforced and minimally protruding on both sides. The rim originally had two massive handles, only one of which is completely preserved, attached in a complex manner with rivets and solder. The omega-shaped handle, square in cross-section, is solid but hollow worked on the inside. The inside of the bow is covered with a sheet of metal. At the transition to the two ends are concave vertical bars. The ends widen outward and are connected to the wall by a pin. From the side, the handle is additionally held in place by a solid clasp at each end, the outer end of which is a vertical concave web soldered to the basin. The clasp ends in a spike, which is embedded in the massive handle. On the side with the handle only fragmentarily preserved, the fastening mechanism can be well studied in comparison with the fully preserved handle. Below the fully preserved handle, the basin is damaged and part of the wall (about 20%) is broken out. Dull green patina, restored and consolidated cracks in the bottom area. A rare Greek Archaic vessel that has flaws but is not deformed. Expert restoration could turn the foot bath bowl into an exceptional showpiece of museum value. Provenance: Rhenish private collection.
