Brevet de Petottier de la Société petotico-maronico-huitrique issued to Renier Chalon, "receveur des contributions directes à Cuesmes, trésorier de la Société provinciale des sciences, arts & lettres du Hainaut". Mons, "en Notre Hôtel de la Cuisine" February 6, 1834 46.5 x 60.5 cm, lithogr. and completed by hand, on pink wove paper, s. aut. of "Denanidref" (= Ferdinand [Delatre]), "Grand Petottier", and "Erised Reisibroc" (= Désiré Corbisier), secrétaire de chancellerie, large red wax seal with "petotte" emblem [potato in Montois] (creases, slight discharge of seal). In brown ep. envelope, ms. inscription in the hand of R. Chalon. A facetious pre-agathopedic, gastronomic and singing order created by Henri-Florent Delmotte in Mons in 1832, which did not survive the death of its founder. Like the Agathopèdes, which appeared in 1846, this order also used a pseudo-Masonic vocabulary ("francs petottiers", "grand maître", etc.) and distributed medals to its members. Ref.
