Schavye, triple gilt fillet around boards, gilt title to upper board, gilt spine ribbed with gilt fleuronné, comb paper lining framed with wide gilt dent., same paper endpapers, gilt t. on witnesses, cons. cover (spine slightly faded). In marbled paper slipcase (spine broken, a few tears). Nice copy. Jubilee publication marking the 25th year of R. Chalon's uninterrupted presidency since his accession in 1849. Illustrated with 2 plates reproducing the medals struck for the occasion, including one bearing the president's effigy. Special edition (unique?) on strong vellum with 2 states of the plates: in the ordinary edition and on chine appliqué. Enriched with 112 documents (many folded), including : Maggiora-Verganus, Ernestus - Rainerio Chalono domo Bruxellensis in Belgis Regiae Societatis Belgicae [...]. Astae, Excudebat Carolus Aluffius, [1873]. In-4° : [4] pp. - 4 press clippings (on 5 ff. including 1 extr. from the "Gazette de Mons" with aut. s. dispatch from Ch. Parmentier to R. Chalon). - 107 autogr. doc. 98 l.a.s., 4 cartons, 1 postcard and 2 congratulatory telegrams from many countries (France, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, USA, etc.). - 2 songs composed for the event, including one entitled "Le revers de la médaille", unsigned. - Portrait of Chalon etched on copper by D.-J.
