[C. 1869] In-8°: [29] ff. pen and brown ink on wove paper, numerous erasures, corrections, additions, some in pencil, by the same hand. On ff. in a recovered wrapping paper envelope with a mailing label from Librairie polytechnique Aug. Decq addressed to Chalon. First draft still unfinished, stopping at the notice on René II de Lorraine (p. 23 of 33) of the published notice. With 20 additional mss items: 7 working notes,- 2 drafts of letters requesting information,- 7 l.a.s. from correspondents (2 under cover), dated 1867: e.g. Jules Borgnet State archivist in Namur, Jules Laurent curator of the Musée départemental des Vosges (2 l., 1 with 2 wax seals), S. Bormans secretary of the Institut archéologique liégeois.
