First edition of this authoritative study, based mainly on copies from private collections, including that of the Prince de Ligne, to whom the publication is dedicated. Illustrated with 33 lithogr. plates by J. Vandendaelen, including 1 double-page color-enhanced map and 32 plates (numbers I to XXVI, 1 to 6) containing a total of 246 numismatic figures, as well as several in-texts, including the de Ligne coat of arms at the head of the dedication.
