BRETON André (1896-1966).
MANUSCRIT autograph signed "André Breton", Magie quotidienne, with 2 pen-and-ink drawings, Paris 1955; 1 page in-4 on green paper.
Curious text, relating a case of surrealist chance.
This beautiful manuscript, illustrated with two drawings, is dedicated to Lise DEHARME: "Pour Lise". Magie quotidienne appeared in La Tour Saint Jacques magazine in November 1955.
"Monday, February 21st. - 8pm. On my return home, my dog, Uli, greets me with an unusual burst of joy. [...] It's as if he had to warn me of an exceptionally happy event." Breton then found an envelope in his mailbox that "contained a booklet entitled Salades, by Robert-Guy, with this dedication: 'To M.A.B., in memory of the dog who almost brought us together'". The lawyer Robert-Guy had in fact helped him with the building manager so that he could keep his dog. The manuscript is embellished with two drawings echoing the content of the text.
