Paul Marella (1895 - 1984) After ordination, he served in the diocese of Rome, and in 1933 was elected titular archbishop, then apostolic delegate to Japan. In 1948, he went to Australia, in 1953, he was Apostolic Nuncio to France, and in 1961, he became Archpriest of St. Peter's Basilica. He took part in the Second Vatican Council, then in the 1963 conclave for the election of Paul VI. He was President of the Secretariat for Non-Christians and, in 1977, Vice-Dean of the College of Cardinals.
