CURIOSITY. 20th century French school "Le général Dodds en pied", bronze statuette with brown patina representing the general wearing his colonial helmet and leaning on his saber, on a wooden base. H: 38 cm, with base: 44.5 cm. BE Alfred Amédée Dodds (1842-1922), Métis, graduated from St-Cyr in 1862, took part in the 1870 war as a marine infantryman, distinguishing himself at Bazeilles, then took part in colonial expeditions in Africa and Indochina, leading the Dahomey campaign which he pacified, commanding troops in Indochina, division general in 1899, member of the Conseil Supérieur de la Guerre at the end of his career.
