HERMANN ◊ JEREMIAH Afromérica (T.7), Hachette 1982 Original plate no. 24. Slight residue of adhesive adhesive residue on spine. India ink on paper 36.5 × 47.5 cm (14.37 × 18.7 in.) In this album, Hermann returns to the fundamentals of the Jeremiah series, which in its early days described an America torn apart by violent race riots. The violence leads to civil war and an atomic explosion, plunging civilization - or at least what's left of it - into total chaos. On this breeding ground flourish small states whose masters compete in extremist ideas and criminal behavior. Arriving by chance in one of them, Jeremiah and Kurdy must extricate themselves as quickly as possible. Afromérica begins with a manhunt whose protagonist is... Hermann himself! This sets the tone for a story of great anguish, with settings that blend futuristic buildings with jungles of disaster-era scrap metal.
