Son of a Rome-based ceramist, Bartolomeo Pinelli studied at the Academy of Saint Luke. Although best known for his numerous drawings, engravings and illustrations, Pinelli was also a sculptor. An extravagant and colorful character, he is considered the artist of the people and of Trastevere.
