1904 BROUHOT D1 Serial number: #755 Same owner for 15 years French registration Founded in 1896 after its creator, the Brouhot brand offered its first automobile model in the late 1890s, equipped with a twin-cylinder engine mounted horizontally at the rear. Until then a confidential brand, it nevertheless became famous, in spite of itself, during the Paris-Madrid motor race in May 1903, which saw the tragic accident of Tourand, driving a Brouhot. In 1903, Brouhot began offering two four-cylinder 15 and 20 hp chassis, with vertical engine and chain drive, before returning to a more classic design in 1906, with engines ranging from 10 to 60 hp, now equipped with T-valves. Construction of Brouhot automobiles came to a halt before the outbreak of the First World War. The car shown here is a two-seater with a "pointe de course" sports body and black leather buckets. In 1921, the car was acquired by a Sarthe winegrower, who kept it for around 40 years before selling it to Henry de Kilmaine in the early 1960s. At its wheel, he took part in a number of rallies, including London-Brighton, Paris-Andorra via Marseille and Palma de Majorca, and the 5th Rallye de la Belle Epoque in June 1966. Acquired at auction in 2008 by our collector, he took part in numerous events with this ancestor. This Brouhot is in excellent condition. All the vehicles in the Rollet collection have been out of service for at least 5 years, and will need to be restarted.
