1923 Françon type F1 6hp
Same owner for 29 years
Collector's registration
- Extremely rare testimony to a vanished make
- Ex-Docteur Jeanson
Françon automobile production is so rare that it was extremely difficult for us to find any information on this brand. Nevertheless, the brand began production in 1921, taking advantage of cycle car regulations to manufacture small cars equipped with two-stroke, twin-cylinder engines. The factory was located at 31 avenue de Paris in Rueil. Unfortunately, Automobiles Françon ceased trading in 1926.
The example we present is a 6cv from 1923, fitted with a 2-seater torpedo body. It belonged to Doctor Jeanson, famous collector and owner of the Nogent l'Artaud automobile museum. During its ownership, it was entirely restored, as old photographs testify.
Mr Rollet acquired it from the doctor in 1994, drove it around and took part in a number of events, then undertook the work, dismantling the wings but unfortunately unable to continue. Today, the car is partially dismantled. It's just waiting for a lover of vanished brands to get back on the road.
*This lot is sold by designation and will not be exhibited at the show*.
All the vehicles in the Rollet collection have not been on the road for at least 5 years, and will need to be restarted.
All the vehicles in the Rollet collection have been out of service for at least 5 years, and will need to be recommissioned
