1942 JEEP FORD GPW Chassis no. 35770 Same owner for 27 years French registration 8 000 /12 000€ With its twenty or so employees, Bantam, which had first designed the lines of the Jeep, didn't have, in the eyes of the American High Command, sufficient shoulders to manufacture the jeep in mass production. In order not to be ousted like Bantam, and despite the plebiscite given to Willy after the numerous tests at Camp Holberg, Willy, at his request, shared his manufacturing license with Ford to produce the Jeep as well. The example on display was delivered to the American forces in 1942, so there's a good chance that it went straight to England to support the Allied action. Immobilized for many years and partially dismantled, our jeep will need a bit of care and attention before setting off again for the most beautiful trails in France. *This lot is sold by designation and will not be exhibited at the show*. All vehicles in the Rollet collection have been out of service for at least 5 years, and will need to be restarted.
