[ENLUMINURE]. [CANON LAW]. [GRÉGOIRE IX]. Folio from the Decretals of Gregory IX, Book IV. In Latin, from an illuminated manuscript on parchment. Italy, Bologna (?), mid-14th century (?). Text copied on two columns, littera bononiensis script, rubrics in red (waiting words kept in the margins for the rubricator), paragraph signs in red, with 10 ornate initials in pale green, orange, blue and pink on blue backgrounds (3 lines high), 3 large initials (5 lines high) in pink or blue on blue or pink backgrounds with ornate decoration of vine leaves or with zoomorphic hybrids (bird with dog's head; kind of fish). Dimensions: 395x260 mm Complete sheet, untrimmed with margins preserved. Recto: Decretals of Gregory IX, Book IV, end of titutlus VI (Qui clerici vel voventes matrimonium contrahere possunt), followed by titulus VII (De eo qui direxit in matrimonium quam polluit per adulterium) [Ed.
