[LIGHTING]. [HOURS]. Leaf from a book of hours. In Latin, from an illuminated manuscript on parchment. France, probably Paris (?), circa 1500. Text copied in black ink, Gothic script (20 lines), headings in blue, two initials in blue with white highlights on a dark red background (2 lines high), illuminated borders, at the bottom of the page: two forest scenes surrounded by gilded columns with bestiary, on the recto two monkeys in the forest, on the verso a bird confronting a zoomorphic hybrid and a monkey. Dimensions: 181x130 mm Text: Extract from Les Heures du Saint-Esprit (?), part of matins, followed on verso by the antiphon for lauds from Les Heures du Saint-Esprit. Other leaves from this dismembered Book of Hours are known, e.g. Cleveland, Museum of Art, Jeanne Miles Blackburn Collection, 2006.13.a (formerly Sotheby's, London, July 3, 1984, lot 127).
