[CURIOSA]. Bibliothèque des paillards, or selection of erotic poetry. Paris: Madame Belle Motte, au temple de la volupté, [ca. 1795]. -In-18, 143x86: 143 pp. 6 plates. Orange half-maroquin with corners, ribbed spine, gilt head, untrimmed (A. Bertrand). Dutel, A-146 (mistakenly announces 8 engravings). - Pia, 147. - L'Enfer de la Bibliothèque nationale, 598. Very rare edition of this collection of 9 famous erotic texts, beginning with a dedicatory Epistle to the foutro-manes of both sexes. It is decorated with 6 unsigned free plates, illustrating the six songs of the first text entitled La Foutro-manie by Gabriel Sénac de Meilhan. Other pieces include La Comtesse d'Olonne, a comedy by Roger de Bussy-Rabutin. These figures appear to be inverted copies of engravings from earlier editions. They are all numbered in the center above the frame. A fine copy, soberly but very well bound by Adolphe Bertrand in the early 20th century. A very well preserved copy. Provenance: Red stamp representing a stylized elephant. - indication in ink on the top of the first white endpaper: P. H. Pxxxxxxxxn.
