A German wheellock rifle, circa 1600
Rifled octagonal barrel in 15 mm caliber, rough bore in need of cleaning, dovetailed brass front sight and cut rear sight (later) on top. Originally not belonging, lightly engraved lock with half-internal wheel, trigger replaced and defective. Full stock with rich bone inlays in the form of flowers and vines as well as hunting motifs, a coat of arms with the monogram "D" on the left side of the butt stock and on the underside. Nose of stock and ramrod pipe made of horn. Curved iron trigger guard, brass butt plate. Later wooden ramrod with horn tip. Butt cap not included, forearm attached, later bone inlays along the barrel bedding, additions in the area of the barrel bedding and the lock plate. Iron parts patinated. Length 101 cm. Decorative weapon which has been repeatedly reworked, adapted and reconditioned in the course of use.
