A German poacher's rifle, circa 1840
Octagonal barrel of Damascus steel in 13.5 mm caliber, octagonal then round at the breech, somewhat rough bore. Percussion lock on the back with cock safety and set trigger. Half stock with patchbox and iron furniture as well as a provisional iron barrel band. The rifle can be divided in the forearm area, secured only by the (replaced) wooden ramrod and the patent breechblock. Length 91 cm.
