Miniature portrait of a young man with long brown curly hair, in armor with a white, lace-trimmed collar. Oil on copper. 7.2 x 5.8 cm (oval) as in the illustration, 7.1 x 5.8 cm in the frame. In a gilt copper frame with spiral attachment.
Provenance: London, Christie's, auction "Miniatures and Objects of Vertu" on May 24, 1977, lot 13 with illus. (as "Italian School, circa 1650"), hammer price 160 GBP plus 10 % buyer's premium.
