- Le Martyrologe romain. Paris: Mathurin Henault, 1643. Dedication copy, in contemporary red morocco stamped with the name of the dedicatee, Anne Geneviève de Bourbon-Condé, duchesse de Longueville, known as "Madame de Longueville" (1619-1679). Quentin-Bauchart, II, pp. 396-397: "the spirit and beauty of the Duchesse de Longueville, and the great influence she exerted on seventeenth-century society, have marked her place in this gallery of famous women, although the books said to have belonged to her most often bear her husband's coat of arms". In-4 (247 x 165 mm). Frequent spotting and browning, quires Kk, Ll and Ss very browned. Contemporary binding: red morocco, boards decorated with a semis of the letters ANNE DE BOURBON, alternating with fleurs-de-lis, double gilt fillet, ribbed spine with caissons similarly decorated on the boards, edges gilt over marble (spines rebacked). Provenance: on the title, a 17th-century handwritten note: "ce martirologe appartenoit à feüe Madame La Duchesse de Longueville" (this martirologe belonged to feüe Madame La Duchesse de Longueville). Attached to the copy is a handwritten note on a headed sheet by the bookseller and bookbinder Léon Gruel, with biographical information on Anne de Bourbon which he takes from Quentin-Bauchart, and which states "très précieuse reliure, semis de fleurs de lys et Anne de Bourbon. Exemplaire de dédicace 1642...Nous ne connaissons aucune reliure à ses armes" -- Alexis de Redé (ex-libris).
