Of a very beautiful dark hue, this comb has probably been patinated with palm oil in order to obtain this shade. The face surmounts a succession of geometric volumes. The whole piece seems to play on the balance between solid forms and hollows. The subtly concave face is reminiscent of the heart-shaped masks so common among the Fang.
