Apulian chous of the Dotted Spray group, Gnathia ware. Circa 320 BC H 15.7 cm, ø body 9.7 cm. Glossy earthenware with painting in white and yellow. At the end of the handle a sculpted and colored boy's head (Eros). On the shoulder in the middle of a vine arbor a dove among tendrils. Red overlay at the foot. With certificate of authenticity from Galerie Günter Puhze, Freiburg i.Br.! Glossy tone at the mouth and handle chipped in a few small places, otherwise intact. Provenance: From the R. L. Collection, Lower Saxony, acquired in 2008 from Galerie Puhze, Freiburg i.Br.; previously from the Rosenbaum-Kroeber Collection from the early 1980s.
