Important "red countries" table service Doccia, Manifattura Richard Ginori, second half of the 20th century Porcelain. Mark: "Richard Ginori Italy" with crown in green; "hand-painted in the Doccia Manufactory" in red. Conservation: excellent In eighteenth-century documents of the Manifattura Ginori this decoration was referred to as "red countries." Introduced from the very first decade of the factory's activity, seeing the light of day in 1737, it was so successful that it was reproposed, as our service testifies, over the centuries. Tall trees frame a landscape with groups of houses nestled in nature sloping toward the horizon. Our "red villages" are embellished with a refined "cut oves" framing on a blue band and a garland of golden vitalba all rigorously hand-painted with great skill by the Doccia painters For an 18th-century plate from which our service has been faithfully taken see for example L.Ginori Lisci,La porcellana di Doccia, Milan 1963, tav. LIII The service for 8 persons counts 46 pieces and is composed as follows: 8 soup plates (diameter 24 cm); 16 flat plates (diameter 25 cm); 8 dessert plates (diameter 22 cm); 1 soup tureen (height 24 cm; maximum diameter 27 cm); 1 salad bowl (height 11 cm; diameter 27 cm); 1 round serving dish (diameter 30 cm); 2 oval serving dishes (length 40 cm; 34 cm); 1 oval tray (24 cm); 8 coffee cups with saucer (cup height 6 cm; saucer diameter 10 cm)
