"Red roosters" table service Doccia, Richard Ginori manufactory, second half of the 20th century Porcelain. Mark: "Richard Ginori" with crown in green. Conservation: very good These porcelains are modeled with a basket-weave rim imitating wicker and feature on the brim and ricasco, four sets of wavy relief ribs are painted with the Asian-derived "red rooster" motif in iron-red and gold, one of Doccia's best-known and most successful decorations in vogue from the beginning of the manufacture's production. Starting in 1747 this motif had so much commercial success that it is now "epochless" and is still being revived after nearly 300 years. The surface is decorated with two warlike roosters between stylized rocks under a willow tree The service for 12 persons counts 56 pieces and is composed as follows: 12 soup plates (diameter 24 cm); 24 flat plates (diameter 24 cm); 12 dessert plates (diameter 22 cm); 1 soup tureen (height 22 cm; length 37 cm); 1 salad bowl (height 9 cm; 25x25 cm); 1 round serving plate (diameter 33 cm); 1 oval serving plate (length 40 cm); 2 oval trays (length 33 cm); 2 oval small trays (length 23 cm)
