"Taormina" Doccia table service, Richard Ginori manufactory, 20th century Porcelain. Mark: "Richard Ginori" with crown in green. Conservation: very good The "Taormina" service was produced, apparently in a limited series, beginning in 1962, echoing in both form and decoration a motif in vogue at the Ginori manufactory as early as around 1780. This highly refined and well-balanced oriental-inspired ornament sees the brim traversed by reserves with small flowers that follow the course of the borders. In the center are two large flowers and stems with leaves and minor flowers Porcelains from the original 18th-century service are preserved in public and private collections, see for example a plate that was exhibited in 1998 at the Lucca exhibition "La manifattura toscana dei Ginori, Doccia 1737-1791" and published in the relevant catalog under no. 100 The service for 24 persons counts 119 pieces and is composed as follows: 18 soup plates (diameter 20.2 cm); 24 flat plates (diameter 21.2 cm); 24 underplates (diameter 24.8 cm); 12 dessert plates (diameter 17.2 cm); 2 soup tureens with lids (height 22 cm; diameter 33 cm); 2 soup bowls without lids (height 10.5 cm; diameter 33 cm); 2 gravy boats (height 13.5 cm; 20x13 cm); 1 salt shaker (height 7.4 cm); 1 pepper shaker (height 11.5 cm); 12 bread plates (diameter 13.5 cm); 12 half-moons (max. size 22 cm); 2 oval trays (22.3 cm); 1 cake tray (diameter 33.5 cm); 3 round serving plates (diameter 31.9 cm); 3 oval serving plates (2 plates 34 cm; 1 plate 39 cm)
