A pupil in Rome of Giuseppe Ghezzi, Antonio Amorosi's first recognized work is the Portrait of Filippo Ricci (signed), now in the Weitzner Collection in New York. His early activity was devoted to historical and religious themes, although his fame to this day is due to his paintings related to the depiction of pitocchi.
