MARCEL COARD (1889-1974)
Exceptional coffee table forming a middle table; with a crotch top equipped with pulls.
Gabonese ebony veneered frame on mahogany core, with four corner legs finished in Gaine.
The top, with its blossoming corners, is sheathed with varnished parchment-skin parts, assembled to resemble a fawn skin on the floor, with falls on the belt and on the leg capitals forming reserves.
The crotch tray is also adorned with varnished parchment skin.
The pulls are framed in Gabonese ebony, with parchment in the center.
A gilded bronze moulding highlights the cut-outs in the top and the edges of the foot capitals.
The crotch plate, the outer parts of the legs and the drawer pulls are underlined by a double-molded ormolu rush.
Each foot receives a gilt bronze ring at the height of its reduction.
Circa 1925-1930.
Used condition, small stains and scattered accidents to the parchment-skinned parts.
