A French painter, Yves Thos is known for his talents as a poster artist (on films such as La dolce vita, L'Homme de Rio and Goldfinger), and as a cover illustrator: for Pilote magazine, for Bob Morane, or for the comic strips Tanguy et Laverdure and Barbe-Rouge.
This cover featuring Bob Morane was created to announce the arrival in Pilote magazine of the story "Opération Chevalier noir", drawn by William Vance, and subsequently published as an album by Dargaud in 1969.
