P.:299. New York, 2003. Andrew Warhol, commonly known as Andy Warhol, was an American visual artist and filmmaker who played a crucial role in the birth and development of pop art. After a successful career as a professional illustrator, Warhol gained worldwide fame for his work in painting, avant-garde film and literature, a notoriety that was supported by a skillful relationship with the media and his role as a guru of modernity. Warhol used different media to create his works, such as hand drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, silkscreen, sculpture, film and music. The Andy Warhol Museum in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, contains an extensive permanent collection of art. He was a controversial figure during his lifetime and since his death in 1987 has been the subject of numerous retrospective exhibitions, analyses, books and documentaries. Beyond the fame and controversy, he is considered one of the most influential artists of the 20th century due to his revolutionary works. 89 x 114 cm.
