FILIPPO LAURI
(Rome 1623 - 1694)
SANSON AND DALILA
HEBREW OF NOAH
THE EXPULSION OF AGAR AND ISMAEL
Three oil paintings on canvas applied to oval panel, 13 x 18.5 cm.
One painting initialed 'M (?) P', left
Good state of preservation
ORIGIN
Roman family
In the episodes 'The Hebrew of Noah' and 'Samson Sleeping in the Arms of Delilah,' we can read, through the stylistic figures and the taste for the landscape setting, the personality of Filippo Lauri, an important protagonist of 17th-century Roman painting.
As for the painting depicting 'The Expulsion of Hagar and Ishmael,' probably both because of the presence of the initials 'M(?) P and the stylistic incompatibilities with the other two ovals, it can be assigned to another Roman painter of the late 17th century
CORNELS
Molded cornices in gilded wood, 19th century
