GIRODET-TRIOSON (Anne-Louis Girodet de Roucy dit).
Autograph letter signed "Gt" to his "amiable amie". S.l.n.d. 3/4 p. in-12.
"Here we are... in days of disorder which prevent friends from seeing each other, and I am well aware that it has been a long time since I have seen you. WILL YOU GIVE ME A DINNER WITHOUT FAÇON NEXT FRIDAY WITH A LIEVRE WHO HAS BEEN SENT TO ME FROM MY CAMPAIGN and for whom your cook will make a better sauce than mine? Answer me if this project pleases mother and daughter. I send my best regards to both of them. WHEN IS DEAR LARREY COMING BACK?..."
This letter is probably addressed to the wife of his friend, the famous surgeon Dominique-Jean Larrey, whose portrait he painted, exhibited at the Salon of 1804. He also painted a portrait of the couple's daughter Isaure, born in 1798 - their son Hippolyte Larrey would not be born until 1808.
