LOUIS XI.
Letter signed "Loys", countersigned by his secretary Pierre Parent, addressed to his chamberlain Philibert de Grolée, seigneur d'Illins. Château du Plessis-du-Parc [today Le Plessis-lès-Tours], October 2 [1482]. One p. in-8 oblong, address on back, wax seal under paper.
Concerning the succession to the marquisate of Finale, on the Ligurian coast, after the death of Galeotto Del Carretto: "J'avoys escript a mon nepveu le duc de Millan [Gian-Galeazzo-Maria Sforza, brother-in-law of Louis XI] adce qu'il tint la main pour faire joir mon conseiller et cousin Charles Du Carret de la seigneurie de Final a luy advenue comme fils aisné de la Maison de Final. On which he gave me too impertinent an answer, for the said Du Carret is in no way linked to the Church, nor has anything prevented him from having the said seigneury of Final which belongs to him. Et a ceste cause, j'envoye par-dela l'abbé de L'Espau, mon conseiller et confesseur [Thomas Des Capitaines, abbé de l'abbaye de L'Épau, actuellement dans la Sarthe] pour vous dire bien au long sur ce mon vouloir... Cest matiere me touche et l'ay bien fort a cueur... "
