LANNES (Jean).
Autograph letter signed to his wife Louise Guéhenneuc. Tarbes, [July 23 or 24, 1808]. One p. in-4, address on spine; one marginal stain, tear to address leaf due to opening without damage to text.
"I AM IN TARBES, I HAVE NOT YET SEEN THE EMPEROR. I'VE SEEN THE IMPERATRESS, SHE'S DOING WONDERFULLY. As soon as I have seen S. M., I'll be on my way to Paris. The Empress asked me a lot about you.
I haven't received any of your letters for ten days, and I'm impatient about your health. I'll be with you in a few days. Give my children a big kiss for me, tell Napoleon [their eldest son] that he is very nice, and that I can't wait to kiss him. Adieu, ma bien bonne et chère Louise, je t'aime de tout mon cœur...
MADAME LA MARECHALE NEY SENDS HER REGARDS."
