Two volumes, in-12, of X pp. (noted XII), 296 pp. - XVII pp, 351 pp. (1) p., full contemporary bindings in marbled basane. 5-rib spines with gilt titles and gilt fleurons gilt titles, gilt fillets on the edges, red edges. Two corners dulled, light soiling on boards. A good copy. First French edition translated by Baron d'Holbach. Gellert was the first to introduce the method of cold extraction metals from their ores by amalgamation with mercury. The table of elemental affinities, with 28 columns of symbols is also particularly interesting. Illustrated with 2 fold-out tables and 4 fold-out engraved plates of instruments.
