ANTONI MARQUÈS (Sabadell, Barcelona, 1956). "Untitled. 1993 Leatherette and synthetic resin. It carries a label identifying the Berini gallery, Barcelona. Size: 120 x 100 x 20 cm. Antoni Marquès Studied sculpture at the Massana School in Barcelona, and then went on to further studies in iron sculpture in Bernard Perrin's workshop at the Ècole National Superieur des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Since 1980 he has devoted himself exclusively to sculpture, initially working with iron, bronze, aluminium, stainless steel, zinc and lead. From the 1990s onwards he incorporated resins, thermoformed plastics, painted iron, silkscreen prints, glass and mirrors. In addition, colour acquired a substantial presence in his work. From the year 2000 onwards these materials are combined and fused together to express new plastic qualities. His work has been supported by a varied creation of works on paper. During the 1980s he worked between France and Spain. In 1985 he was selected for the I Muestra de Arte Joven de Madrid, and since then he has been working with the Buades Gallery. He was selected for the VI Salón de los 16 (Madrid). He also worked with the Fúcares Gallery and the Berini Gallery in Barcelona. He has works in various collections such as the Hubert Neumann Collection (New York), the Coca Cola Collection (Madrid), in the Contemporary Art Collection of the "La Caixa" Foundation (Barcelona), in the Museum of Fine Arts of Álava, as well as in other private collections. He regularly exhibits his work at the Galería Moriarty in Madrid and the Galería Cànem in Castellón.
