SMALL BUTSUDAN
in black lacquered wood on the outside, gold on the inside, enhanced by chased copper fittings, opening onto a figure of Shaka Nyorai Buddha standing on a lotus resting on a high hexagonal base, leaning against a mandorla adorned with clouds, his right hand raised in vitarkamudra ("gesture of teaching") and his left hand lowered in varadamudra ("gesture of generosity").
(Missing left hand and lacquer gap on one of the flaps).
