Buste d'empereur romain dit Pseudo Vitellius Bust of a Roman emperor, known as Pseudo Vitellius, in white marble for the head and orange-red marble for the armor. Resting on a white marble pedestal. Italy, 19th century. H. 85 - W 72 - D 25 cm Our bust is inspired by an ancient sculpture discovered in Rome and bequeathed by Cardinal Domenico Grimani to the Republic of Venice in 1523, now in the Archaeological Museum of Venice. For another related work, the bust of a man (pseudo Vitellius) dated to the first half of the 16th century and housed in the Musée du Louvre (MR684).
