Silence of the Lambs (1991) - Hannibal Lecter’s (Anthony Hopkins) Mask Hannibal Lecter’s (Anthony Hopkins) restraint mask from Jonathan Demme's Oscar-winning thriller The Silence of the Lambs. The mask comes with an LOA from producer Ken Utt and from the prop master Anne Miller as well as a note from Anthony Hopkins. Jodie Foster stars as Clarice Starling, a top student at the FBI's training academy. Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, may be just the bait to draw him out. Lecter wore this mask in a pivotal scene in the film at the Memphis airport during the tense meeting with Senator Martin (Brooke Smith) when he reveals Buffalo Bill's identity and whereabouts. This is a form-fitting, green/tan-colored mask made of thick acrylic material that covers Lecter's face. The design is simple yet chilling, with a guard-like appearance that prevents him from biting or attacking others. The mask has a series of small holes or perforations to allow Lecter to breathe and speak, but it effectively conceals his mouth and most of his facial expressions. The item is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Studio Auctions.
