Automobiles Vermorel. Paris, Affiches Frossard-Courbet & Cie, s.d. [c. 1912]. Color poster, 140 x 100. Carefully interfolded. Margins restored, tears not missing. Vivid colors. This poster depicts a chauffeur-driven car with a mother and daughter as passengers, greeting the takeoff of a Blériot airplane. The landscape of dunes seems to suggest the departure of Blériot's first airplane crossing of the English Channel on July 25, 1909. The plane used for the crossing was a Blériot type XI. On the poster, however, the drawing of the plane is of a Blériot type IX.
