NOËL- ANTOINE PLUCHE (1688-1761). "History of Heaven in which the origin of Idolatry is inferred, and the best means of knowing the Celestial and Sublunar bodies is established with the physica of Moses, or experience. Work in which the abbot Pluche concludes that of the spectacle of Nature". Volume II. Printer: Pantaleón Aznar. Madrid, 1779. Translator: P.M FR Pedro Rodriguez Morzo. It has parchment covers. In good condition with slight damage caused by xylophages. Measurements: 21.5 x 15.5 x 3 cm. Noël-Antoine Pluche, known as Abbé Pluche, was a French priest. Known for his Spectacle de la nature, a work of natural history of great popularity. He was a professor of rhetoric. The bishop of Laon appointed him director of the city's college, a position he accepted to avoid the judicial consequences of his opposition to the papal bull Unigenitus (1713). In 1749 he retired to La Varenne-Saint-Maur, near Paris, where he died. His Spectacle de la nature, ou Entretiens sur les particularités de l'Histoire naturelle qui ont paru les plus propres à rendre les jeunes gens curieux et à leur former l'esprit was published in nine volumes between 1732 and 1742, and was widely translated throughout Europe. Although it influenced many naturalists, it was a work of popularization, not science. It has parchment covers. In good condition with slight damage caused by xylophages.
