Rollbild (Patua). Gouache on canvas, probably Cambodia 20th century Approx. 186 x 117 cm. Buddha at the foot of the stairway to heaven, surrounded by 4 gods, including Indra and Indrani, numerous other gods in heaven, numerous worshippers opposite Buddha with their backs to the viewer, with two officials (soldiers?) excitedly pointing downwards to the hot hells. With text probably in Khmer. Similar to the Tibetan thangka. - Traces of creasing, abrasions, in the lower area so strong that the text is barely legible. R
