Luigi Miradori il Genovesino (attributed to) (Genoa c. 1605-Cremona c. 1656) - Sleeping Child cm 76x103; in frame cm 99x126 Oil on canvas "Painting showing a clear naturalistic imprint, with Caravaggesque suggestions. Iconographic prototype of Reni derivation, Madonna in adoration of the sleeping child by Guido Reni. The work reproduces the exact construction of the scene except for the Madonna. The sleeping putto on an elegant cushion, almost in the identical position the curtain gathered to one side, revealing a part from the landscape in the distance. Certainly Genovesino was familiar with the above painting, but he makes his own extremely particular, opening the curtain to the landscape, giving a personal flicker to the composition. In addition to the iconological datum, the stylistic aspect shows obvious references concerning the chiaroscuro lights, the atmosphere, the mellow drafting dissected by the use of brilli given at the tip of the brush, to define the modeling of the body, findings mediated by Orazio Gentileschi with whom he had had contacts in Genoa. Moreover, the face of the child, with plump flushed cheeks, almost smiling so as to give suavity and sweetness to the whole composition, seems to accord with Strozzi's manner. These clues might suggest the idea that this is one of the few works executed by Miradori in his hometown of Genoa. "STUDIO ASOR
