"Jérôme CARDAN [Hieronymi Cardani] - Mediolanensis medici de rerum varietate libri XVIII
By Bartholomaeum Honoratum in Lugdunum (Lyon), 1580 - Rare work that follows on from the author's "Subtilitate". It contains a little of everything, from cosmology to the construction of machines and the usefulness of the natural sciences, as well as the harmful influence of demons. In particular, alchemy and the occult sciences are covered, with the author contributing many new ideas, albeit in somewhat obscure Latin.
Numerous figures in the text, a fine folding plate with two astronomical models and a folding table, all well preserved.
Interior in good condition, although there is some old dampstaining throughout.
Beautifully bound in full contemporary vellum, titled and dated in old ink on the spine.
Fort in-8, 97pp + 883pp + Index."
