Rococo tabatiere with scattered flower decoration and par force hunting scene Porcelain. Round, straight body with flat domed hinged lid. All sides with cartouches framed by relief rocailles with scattered flower decoration in polychrome painting. The inside lid with a scene of Saxon par force hunters hunting deer in a tree-lined landscape. A magnificent castle complex in the background. After copperplate engravings by Johann Elias Ridinger (1698-1767) in fine miniature painting, probably by Christian Friedrich Kühnel (1719-1792). Gilt interior. Gold mounting with wave profile and slightly extended thumb grip. Damaged; mount loose. H. 3,8 cm. D. 7.5 cm. Provenance: from the important collection of the Frankfurt banking family von Bethmann, which grew over generations. Cf. cat. Meissen snuff boxes, no. 95. A gilt-mounted Rococo porcelain snuff box with "scattered flower" decor and parforce hunting scene after Ridinger probably painted by Chr. F. Kühnel. Rubbed. Mount loosley. Meissen. Circa 1750.
