Meissen tabatiere with floral and absorbent cotton decoration porcelain. Rectangular body with rounded corners and domed hinged lid. The wall, lid and underside decorated with relief rocaille cartouches with fine floral bouquets in purple scale mosaic. The inner lid with a full-surface, scenic depiction of a courtly couple playing a mandolin and sheet music in a tree-lined landscape. The wide background with mountain backdrop and river course. Polychrome painting. Floral relief, internally wavy and gilt copper mount with slightly raised thumb grip. Minor wear/rest; h. 5 cm. 9 cm x 7 cm. A gilt cooper-mounted porcelain snuff box with polychrome and copper-green painted Watteau decor and erotic scene. Meissen. Mid 18th century.
